Aspect Ratio Controls

The Aspect Ratio Controls determine how the canvas proportions are defined when creating a book pattern. They help ensure your image is framed correctly for pattern generation and maintain the integrity of the design.

Availability

These controls are available only for Book Pattern Types.

How It Works

Aspect Ratio Style

  • Manual – Lets you control the canvas dimensions using the Aspect Ratio Slider. By default, this is 1 millimetre per leaf, and moving the slider increases or decreases this value, adjusting the width-to-height ratio to frame the image precisely.
  • From Image – Automatically sets the canvas proportions to match the source image. This preserves the composition and layout of your original image without manual adjustment.

Using the appropriate style ensures your pattern starts with the most suitable proportions for the book design.

Aspect Ratio Slider

  • Adjusts the shape and proportions of the canvas to frame the image for pattern generation.
  • Moving the slider changes the width-to-height ratio, resizing and reshaping the canvas.
  • A wider aspect ratio stretches the canvas horizontally, ideal for landscape-oriented designs.
  • A taller aspect ratio increases vertical space, ideal for portrait-oriented designs.
  • Helps maintain the correct proportions of the design and prevents distortion.
  • Fine-tuning the aspect ratio ensures the final pattern is well-positioned within the book.

Why It’s Useful

  • Provides precise control over the canvas proportions for book patterns.
  • Preserves key details of the image and prevents distortion.
  • Ensures optimal placement of the pattern within the book’s usable area.
  • Allows creative flexibility or accurate alignment with the source image.
