Multilayer Controls

The Multilayer Controls define how images are divided into depth levels when creating multilayer folded book patterns. These settings determine both the number of layers in the design and how shades are distributed, giving the pattern a three-dimensional appearance.

The Multilayer Controls are available only for Multilayer Book patterns.

How It Works

Number of Layers

  • Determines how many layers the book pattern will be folded into.
  • Increasing the number of layers adds more depth, making the design appear more three-dimensional.
  • Fewer layers create a simpler pattern with fewer folds, which may be easier to complete but provides less depth.
  • Adjusting this setting lets you control the overall intricacy of the multilayer folded book design.

Threshold Slider

  • Divides the image into multiple threshold ranges based on the number of layers specified.
  • Darker shades represent deeper folds, while lighter shades remain closer to the surface.
  • As the number of layers increases, more thresholds are added, allowing for greater variation in depth.
  • Moving the slider adjusts how shades are distributed between layers, refining the balance of depth across the pattern.
  • Fine-tuning ensures the final design achieves the intended three-dimensional effect.

Why It’s Useful

  • Controls the depth and complexity of multilayer folded book patterns.
  • Allows you to balance simplicity with intricacy depending on skill level and desired effect.
  • Enhances the three-dimensional quality of the finished design.
  • Provides flexibility to experiment with different layering styles for unique results.
