Before Canvas
The Before Canvas displays the original uploaded image before it is processed into a pattern. It allows you to adjust the image’s position and scale to ensure the design is optimally placed within the pattern area.
A crosshair is shown at the centre of the canvas to help you align the image accurately.
Availability
The Before Canvas is available for all Frame and Book pattern types.
How It Works
- Click and drag (or use one finger on touchscreens) to reposition the image.
- Use the mouse wheel (or pinch on touchscreens) to zoom in and out, resizing the image.
- A visible border shows areas where the pattern cannot be placed.
- For Frame patterns, the border represents the internal frame dimensions, and the pattern can be positioned within the aperture dimensions.
- For Book patterns, the border height represents the top and bottom areas that remain uncut, and the pattern can be placed within the book height minus the border height at the top and bottom.
- The canvas dimensions automatically adjust based on the chosen Frame or Book dimensions.
- The image is initially placed to take up as much space as possible within the canvas boundaries.
Why It’s Useful
- Lets you position and scale the image before pattern generation.
- Ensures the design fits properly within the available frame or book space.
- Provides a central crosshair for accurate alignment.
- Shows the usable area clearly with borders to prevent cuts or folds in restricted areas.
